The Bachelorette Season 11 “Week Five” Review; Through the Woodchipper

Deal With It

As much as I don’t like him as a person, I think Nick made a great point when he said that he was glad that Josh showed up on Andi’s season. Had Kaitlyn sent him packing last week just because the guys had a problem with him, she would have always wondered what might have happened after giving one of the other guys the final rose. Even the guys who share the best chemistry with Kaitlyn should want their relationship tested by every possible obstacle before getting engaged, to know that their love can last more than a year after the show wraps.

Two-Step at a Time

I think Ben H. and Kaitlyn had an awesome date at the legendary Gruene Hall (I’ve been there, it’s truly amazing), but I don’t think I would have given him the date rose. Sure, he’s young, three years younger than Kaitlyn to be exact, but he’s actually the same age as Ben Z. and Jared, who don’t have a problem baring their souls to Kaitlyn. He’s still one of the most attractive men left on the show though!

The Final Rose

Can Kaitlyn just send everyone else home already? This week, she not only told Shawn that she felt “the same way” when Shawn said he is “falling in love with her,” she said she could give him the final rose. However, next week is the sex scandal! In the promo, we see Shawn and Jared flip their lids, leading me to believe that she gets it on with the only other man that rivals her connection with these two: Nick. Despite his connection and amazing one-on-one with Kaitlyn, Shawn didn’t say a word about his bad blood toward the newcomer, and rightfully so, since contestants harboring ill will for their fellow castmates usually don’t last long in the competition. Just because the group date guys wouldn’t speak up for Joshua, doesn’t mean that Shawn wouldn’t have. Sleeping with Nick is probably the worst thing Kaitlyn could do for what I would call the strongest relationship of the season.

Here to Make Out

What I can’t believe is that Kaitlyn’s field plowing fun takes place the very week after Ian called her out for being shallow and only on the show for physical action from multiple men. I also find it incredulous that Ian would even come on the show if he had such a great sex life back in Los Angeles. Furthermore, just because he’s such an elegible bachelor on paper doesn’t mean he would be America’s top pick for THE Bachelor. At this point, my money is on Shawn, even if he chooses to leave after having his heart broken by Kaitlyn. The vulnerability he’s shown this early on (and not in a psycho way, especially since Kaitlyn is reciprocating) and his universally striking good looks make him a shoo-in. I still hope he stays and gets the final rose though. If he is the one to settle down with Kaitlyn, maybe they’ll give Chris Soules another shot!

What did you think of this week’s episode? Who does Kaitlyn take back to her suite next week? Who will be sent home next and who will leave of their own accord? Who will get the final rose? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
