Revenge Season 4 Episode 12 “Madness” Review
Sunday, Jan 11th. 2015 -ABC
Sanity is Relative
This week’s episode title obviously has mostly to do with Louise’s mental illness, which we discovered was only a side effect of the pills she’s been taking to treat said illness. I get that the Ellises want to keep Louise’s insanity hush-hush since Lyman is a politician, but there’s no reason why Louise had to have her medication sent in the mail by her family doctor. I’m sure she could have found a discreet psychiatrist locally. Lyman’s appearance in the Hamptons did drudge up a whole lot of talk about their father though and with Louise becoming a series regular, I do hope that we learn more about his death. This week it was revealed that Louise was the one who found him dead at the bottom of their staircase, which definitely smells fishy to me.
Everybody Bends the Rules
Just as I had hoped, Victoria finally let Margaux in on Emily’s secret, I am dying to know what Ben will do with what he overheard! After he told Jack that “there’s no way Emily is a killer,” I knew that he would surely find out the truth but I didn’t think it would be so soon. Almost everyone knows the whole story, with the exception of Louise, but that’s mostly because she’s not very relevant to Emily’s character or because she’s pretending to ignore what she found in the blue envelope Victoria gave to Taylor.
Hopefully Ben will put two and two together and realize that Jack also knows that Emily is Amanda, so that he can actually be of more use to Team Revenge than just eye candy. Of course, this news could also change the way he feels about her and he could become the new wild card of the show. We definitely need a new one now that Margaux knows how Daniel really died.
She’s Worth It
Remember when I said that Emily and Victoria are kind of on the same team? Well, that was before we found out that David wanted to kill Victoria and Emily wanted to make her keep living her miserable life, but next week’s promos show them working together to escape Black. When Jack finds out that Black has been released, it’s pretty obvious that he’s going to find Victoria at the lighthouse and hold her hostage, but kidnapping both Victoria and Emily was an awesome twist that made up for the soapiness of Margaux’s fainting spell.
What did you think of this week’s episode? Did Louise kill her father? Will Ben help or hurt Emily’s cause now that he knows the truth? Will Victoria and Emily escape Malcolm Black? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
