This episode felt like filler all the way up until the end, but I’ll admit that the tension kept building with every reunion David made this week. During his meetings with Jack and Nolan, as well as every conversation he had with Victoria and Charlotte, I kept wanting to get inside his head and figure out his suspicions as to who is actually aware of Emily’s true identity. Thankfully, we closed the episode with a nice voice-over from David, revealing to the audience that he wants revenge on the people that hurt Emily most…but does he know that Victoria is one of those people?

Clarke Blocking

So David had to help Emily out by sending away the police escort on his own, but she was able to get one step closer to him this week by selling the beach house to two of the only characters that are still in the dark about her being a Clarke. If we’ve learned anything from this show, it’s that the key to getting what you want is knowing what others want. And having lots of money, of course! Once she realized how desperately Margaux wanted to get an intimate interview with David she was happy to sell her the beach house, conveniently placing David back in their old home next door to her new home, Grayson Manor. It has to be extremely painful for her to watch him from her balcony and wait for the dust to settle, but it will definitely be worth it when they get to see each other again. Even though I was right to predict that it wouldn’t happen this week, don’t you just love how they’re both wearing chambray shirts and khakis (see photos above and below) at the beach house?

Something is Not Right Here

I know this was a quote from David, but I think it fits perfectly with Ben’s search for Conrad’s killer. Even though the chief confiscated the FBI file from him, I’m hoping he was smart enough to make photocopies of his own so he can keep digging. The fact that he doesn’t know that the perpetrator is actually Emily’s father makes for incredible drama. Ben did promise Jack that he would stop chasing her, but you just know he won’t be able to stay away. It wouldn’t be Revenge without putting Emily in the middle of another love triangle!

For once, Charlotte isn’t the most useless character on the show! That’s right, the plotline nobody cares about now belongs to Louise. Her attempts to get revenge on Victoria for leaving her in the asylum are so easily eclipsed by Victoria’s struggle to keep David away from Emily and Charlotte’s meddling. Speaking of Charlotte, what is her damage? Jack hit it right on the head when he called Charlotte out on her crazy, pointing out that bringing David to meet him and Carl does nothing but torment him. Perhaps she’s trying to get David to mistrust Jack, helping him to suspect that he knows they aren’t actually in-laws. And while we’re on the subject of in-laws, I’m also wondering how weird it’ll be when David realizes that Victoria’s son married his daughter. Sure, Daniel and Emily hitched and ditched Kardashian-style, but just knowing they slept together would make me squirm more than anything.

What did you think of this week’s episode? Will Ben get to the bottom of Conrad’s murder? Will David and Emily finally reunite?
